This past weekend I went with a couple of friends to the African American Museum in the Treme neighborhood, a historic neighborhood in both New Orleans and the Country as (Treme) was the first neighborhood of freed people of color.
The museum while it was small offered many artifacts of slave life, many documents such as newspaper articles, and different documentations of marriage, records kept by slave masters, etc. I do think that it is imperative that we all (not just Black) know our history and the progress that has been made in this country. I do recommend that you visit, it was very educational!
